Leach St
The Leach St Project
Briar Hill, Victoria

There are homes that wear their character quietly, and then there are homes that stop you in your tracks. The Leach St residence in Briar Hill is the latter. A heritage property reimagined with conviction, this kitchen renovation is as much about feeling as it is function. Every finish chosen with a clear point of view. Every detail earning its place.
Conviction in Every Contrast
The bold pairing of full-height charcoal cabinetry against the sweeping drama of the quartzite stone is the kind of decision that takes real design conviction. The stone, running from benchtop to splashback in an unbroken sheet, carries layers of deep purple, warm cream, and silver grey. No two sections the same. No apologies made.
Overhead, the original coffered plaster ceiling sits in quiet contrast to the moody palette below. The warm timber floor ties the two worlds together beautifully, grounding a space that might otherwise feel purely dramatic.
"Dark cabinetry, ancient stone, handcrafted timber. Three materials that have no business working this well together."
Handcrafted Warmth
The Chicama Wave Timber Handles, handmade in the Macedon Ranges from American oak in a walnut stain, are the piece that bring this kitchen back to earth. Their fluid, organic silhouette softens the hard edges of the dark cabinetry and introduces a warmth that stone and metal alone cannot offer. The 672mm handles anchor the tall pantry and tower doors with ease, while the 256mm Chicama Thin handles sit beautifully on the drawers.
On the island, the Veda Knob in Champagne Bronze, made in Europe, adds a subtle and considered elegance. Its compact, refined profile makes it the perfect companion to the white island cabinetry, bridging the warmth of the brass tapware with the lighter tones of the stone.
A Softer Story

Beyond the kitchen, the laundry tells a softer story. White joinery, a fluted tile splashback, and a calm stone benchtop provide the backdrop for the Mayfair Knob in Brushed Aged Brass. Its classic, rounded profile brings a finishing touch that ties this working space back to the warmth of the hardware palette throughout the home. Considered without being overthought. Quietly beautiful in the way all the best rooms are.
