Timber Handle Edition
A quiet workshop, rescued timber, and the hands that bring it all to life.
Where every handle begins
In a quiet country town, tucked away in the Macedon Ranges, sits a timber workshop where every piece of timber tells a story. Inside, you'll find Gerrard, our talented woodworker at Touch Handles, patiently crafting cabinet handles that celebrate the raw, imperfect beauty of nature.
Each handle begins with rescued American Oak, once destined for the bin. With care and precision, Gerrard brings the timber back to life — turning, carving, sanding, and bending it into timeless, handcrafted pieces.
"I just love making these handles. They are called Touch Handles because everyone who walks past has to touch them." — Gerrard, Design Show 2024
Scroll down to step inside the workshop. A peek behind the scenes is waiting for you, and a little video too. Go on then, scroll.
Carving, drilling, inserting, rounding edges, shaping, rough sanding, fine sanding, staining — and more. Every handle is a process, and every step shows.
American Oak that would otherwise go to waste is given a second life as a beautiful, tactile piece for your home.
Gerrard works alone in his Macedon Ranges workshop. Every single handle is made with his full attention and care — one at a time.

FAQ with the maker himself
At the 2024 Design Show, Gerrard answered some of your most common questions. We've compiled them here straight from the source.
Yes – I had a lot of interest in entry pulls like the Barfold and Hesket Peak but much bigger at the Design Show 2025! We already have the Cadello Crown - Coming Soon! - available in that size and I'm working on expanding that offering.
Absolutely! This is the purpose of the Cascade handle. It offers a streamline look, and is also great for sliding doors, where a protruding handle is not an option.
While at the moment, we mainly only offer our four main finishes: Raw American Oak, Clear Coated American Oak, Walnut Stained American Oak & Ebony Stained American Oak, I've been experimenting with colours – white, green, blue, red and more. It's exciting to know that there are options beyond just timber tones!
Depending on what profile lengths I have in stock, lengths up to 2m–2.4m are possible. Just get in touch with me*, and I'll confirm availability before committing.

Yes – most of our timber handles can be custom cut or made to size. It makes our handles very flexible! You can get the perfect size custom to your project requirements.
They are now! While it has taken a while for my passion of Timber handles to grow, at the Design show 2025, I kept hearing comments like "this is all the thing!" It's really great to see timber handles gaining so much love.
Yes, I've had quite a bit of interest in MDF versions that can be painted to match cabinetry – and we can absolutely do that. Simply contact us today to see if your handle preference is possible.
Yes, absolutely! Simply select your country at checkout.
Yes! I make them all in my workshop in Kyneton. At the Design Show 2025, people were blown away when they realised I actually make each handle myself in the shed in Kyneton. "You mean you make them?" "Yes." "Actually YOU?" "Yes – me!"
Yes, we are always innovating, and experimenting with new designs. I can't wait to see what we come up with next!
Have an idea for us? Make sure to contact us, and we will try and make it a reality.
While this is very rare for Touch Handles, we have had this happen a couple of times. Once notified, we replace quickly – and I've put better processes in place to stop it happening again.
That issue was raised, at the 2025 Design Show, but it was actually with another brand's handle someone had. Ours are built strong – no cracking here.
Yes - someone asked for a 140mm Barfold but longer on the square side, more like an oblong D, at the Design Show 2025. That's doable – just get in touch.
Easy – just use a soft cloth and dishwashing detergent. No need for anything fancy.
We use Osmo Wood Wax Finish – it combines natural oils and waxes, making the timber water- and stain-resistant, and really nice to touch. It doesn't crack or flake and is safe for people, pets and even kids' toys. It's also microporous, so the wood can breathe naturally.
People were shocked (in a good way) when I said our custom orders are usually ready in 2–3 weeks. Most are used to waiting 2–3 months!
Yes – a lot of people were surprised (and relieved) that we actually keep our timber range in stock. No long waits here!
